Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the HelperApp mobile application ("the App") operated by HelperApp ("we", "our", "us").

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

HelperApp is a household expense tracking application that allows users to:

Scan and digitize receipts using AI-powered recognition
Organize and categorize household expenses
Manage household members with different roles (owner, family, helper)
Share shopping lists within a household
Optionally track helper locations during shopping trips

3. User Accounts

To use the App, you must create an account using an email address and password or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.

4. Household Roles

Owner: Creates the household, manages members, and has full access to all data.
Family: Can view all data and invite new members.
Helper: Can scan receipts, use shopping lists, and optionally share their location.

By inviting someone to your household, you grant them access to shared household data as described by their role.

5. GPS Tracking

The App offers optional GPS tracking for helpers. By enabling GPS tracking:

You consent to your location being recorded and shared with household members
You can disable tracking at any time through the Settings screen
Location data is only collected during active tracking sessions

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Upload fraudulent or misleading receipt data
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
Use GPS tracking to monitor individuals without their knowledge and consent
Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure

7. AI Processing

Receipt data is processed using AI services (Google Gemini API) for text extraction and categorization. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated results may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of extracted receipt data.

8. Data and Content

You retain ownership of the data you upload to the App, including receipt images and text. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your data as necessary to provide the service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-processed data will be completely accurate.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the App's Settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
