HelperApp ("we", "our", "us") operates the HelperApp mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information: Email address, display name, and authentication data when you create an account or sign in with Google.
Receipt data: Photos of receipts you scan, extracted text, item descriptions, prices, and categories. Receipt images are processed and not permanently stored after extraction.
Location data: If you enable GPS tracking as a helper, we collect your location during active tracking sessions. Location tracking is optional and can be turned on or off at any time in Settings.
Usage data: Basic app usage information to improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the app's functionality
To process and categorize receipts using AI (Google Gemini API)
To share household expense data with members of your household
To enable GPS tracking between household members when explicitly activated
To send invitation emails to people you invite to your household

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your data is shared only in the following circumstances:

Within your household: Receipt data, shopping lists, and location data (when tracking is active) are shared with members of your household.
Service providers: We use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage, and hosting. Receipt images are sent to Google Gemini API for text extraction and categorization.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS/SSL) and Firebase security rules to protect your data.

5. Location Data

GPS tracking is entirely optional and only available to household helpers. When enabled:

Location is recorded approximately every 60 seconds during an active trip
Location data is visible only to members of the selected household
You can stop tracking at any time from the Settings screen
Trips are automatically ended after 30 minutes of inactivity

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Opt out of location tracking at any time
Leave a household at any time

7. Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
